I want to be a scientist、he decided to try、many people want it very much。

English:

Jeff Bezos plans to become one of the first civilians in space later this month, taking Blue Origin’s first human flight just two weeks after stepping down as Amazon’s chief executive.

If the launch goes ahead as planned, Bezos will beat billionaires Elon Musk and Richard Branson, who have their own rocket ventures, into space.

New Shepard is on track to be the first commercial space flight to take a civilian beyond the Kármán line, the internationally recognised edge of space, more than 60 miles above earth.

The high-risk endeavour will come just two weeks after Bezos officially stepped down as chief executive of Amazon.com, the 1.6tn ecommerce group he founded, on July 5.

Almost 6,000 people have bid the price of a seat on New Shepard up to 2.8m, Blue Origin said on Monday.

1. step down as —— 卸任,辞去(要职)

原文出处: “taking Blue Origin’s first human flight just two weeks after stepping down as Amazon’s chief executive”

After he left his job as CEO, he started a new company.

Two weeks after stepping down as chief executive, he boarded the spacecraft for the dream he had held since the age of five.

2. on track to —— 按计划推进,有望成为

New Shepard is on track to be the first commercial space flight to take a civilian beyond the Kármán line”

为什么好: on track to 字面是”在轨道上”,引申为”进展顺利、按计划兑现”,比 will be、is going to be 多了一层”计划正在被一步步实现”的客观感。

The project will be finished next year.

Despite the delay, the project is on track to be completed ahead of schedule.

3. beat…into…

Bezos will beat billionaires Elon Musk and Richard Branson, who have their own rocket ventures, into space”

为什么好: 学生写”第一个做到”只会 the first person to…,平平无奇。

Our school will be the first to win this prize.

With a year of preparation, our team beat three stronger rivals into the national final.

4. high-risk endeavour ——

The high-risk endeavour will come just two weeks after Bezos officially stepped down as chief executive”

学生写冒险只会 it was very dangerous to do…,把动词句改成名词短语,句子立刻有了新闻感。

It was very dangerous for him to take this challenge.

The high-risk endeavour demanded years of preparation, absolute focus and a willingness to fail.

5. bid…up to…

Almost 6,000 people have bid the price of a seat on New Shepard up to 2.8m”

为什么好: bid 是”出价、竞标”,bid…up to… 学生写”很多人想要”只会 many people wanted it very much,用 bid…up to…

Many people wanted to buy the ticket very much.

Fans bid the price of concert tickets up to three times their face value within minutes.

这5个表达连起来,就是一条完整的追梦叙事链:先写人物放下高位(step down as)→ 写计划稳步推进(on track to)→ 写竞争中的领先(beat…into…)→ 点出选择的风险与分量(high-risk endeavour)→ 最后用外界的追捧收尾(bid…up to…)。
