In conclusion, we should pay attention to this problem, because it is very important for everyone.
All in all, we must take action to solve this problem.
Indeed, AstraZeneca has licensed its Covid-19 vaccine to be produced at cost by the Serum Institute of India and others. Moderna, meanwhile, announced in October 2020 that it would not enforce its patents covering Covid-19 vaccines based on its mRNA technology during the pandemic, so that others could benefit. That announcement was effectively a unilateral patent-enforcement waiver.
Governments and companies are scrambling to scale up the supply of vaccines as fast as possible; there is no disagreement that it is both necessary and desirable. But it will take time, meaning there will be scarcity in the short-run. Introducing antibody screening — so booster doses are distributed globally on the basis of need rather than nationality — is a strategy that could help end this terrible pandemic sooner.
结构公式: [各方] are [动作ing] as fast as possible; there is no disagreement that it is both [评价A] and [评价B].
Governments and companies are scrambling to scale up the supply of vaccines as fast as possible; there is no disagreement that it is both necessary and desirable. But it will take time, meaning there will be scarcity in the short-run.
So it is very important to use antibody tests. We must do this as soon as possible.
Hospitals are already working overtime to treat patients as fast as possible; there is no disagreement that more beds are both necessary and desirable. But they will take months to build, meaning prevention matters more than ever.
[各方] are [动作] as fast as possible; there is no disagreement that [做法] is both [评价A] and [评价B]. Students and teachers are revising as hard as possible; there is no disagreement that more practice is both useful and fair. But it takes time, meaning better methods matter more than more hours.
结构公式: [V-ing 你的建议] — so [对象] are [动作] on the basis of [标准A] rather than [标准B] — is a strategy that could [结果].
FT例句:
Introducing antibody screening — so booster doses are distributed globally on the basis of need rather than nationality — is a strategy that could help end this terrible pandemic sooner.
- 动名词做主语:Introducing antibody screening(引入抗体筛查),把一整条建议压缩成一个名词短语,让它像一个「已经存在的方案」一样被讨论;
on the basis of need rather than nationality(依据需要,而不是国籍)——一句话把方案的判断标准讲清楚; is a strategy that could...
I think we should use screening tests. In this way, poor countries can get more vaccines.
Introducing a weekly reading hour at school — so books are chosen on the basis of interest rather than exam value — is a strategy that could help more students finish a whole book this term.
[V-ing 建议] — so [对象] are [动作] on the basis of [A] rather than [B] — is a strategy that could [结果]- 例:Introducing a fifteen-minute review before bed — so new words are revisited on the basis of memory rather than mood — is a strategy that could help students keep what they learn.
That [名词] was effectively a [定性名词短语].
FT例句:
Indeed, AstraZeneca has licensed its Covid-19 vaccine to be produced at cost by the Serum Institute of India and others. Moderna, meanwhile, announced in October 2020 that it would not enforce its patents covering Covid-19 vaccines based on its mRNA technology during the pandemic, so that others could benefit. That announcement was effectively a unilateral patent-enforcement waiver.
That announcement was effectively a unilateral patent-enforcement waiver.(那项声明实际上是一项单方面的专利执行豁免。)
This is good / This is important;记者会告诉你这件事「等于什么」。
Our school opened the library to others. This is a good thing.
Our school has opened its library to pupils from nearby schools; the local college, meanwhile, has shared its lab equipment with us. That arrangement was effectively a quiet redistribution of educational resources.
That [名词] was effectively a [定性名词短语]- 例:That decision was effectively a promise to the whole class.
No one disagrees that... (Introducing…)?
That ... was effectively a ...
there is no disagreement that ... But ...
[V-ing 建议] — so [对象] are [动作] on the basis of [A] rather than [B] — is a strategy that could ...
That [名词] was effectively a [定性短语]给它贴一次标签。
