批改议论文时,我常看到同一个套路:第一段亮观点,第二段写“Some people think it is not good, but I think it is good.”——反方没有名字、没有身份、没有理由,只是一个等着被反驳的稻草人。
“President Biden and his team are considering a range of potential options for how to invest in working families and reform our tax code so it rewards work, not wealth,” Jen Psaki, the White House press secretary, said. “Those conversations are ongoing, so any speculation about future economic proposals is premature and not a reflection of the White House’s thinking.”
Clinching congressional approval for a massive new round of spending with razor-thin majorities for Democrats in both the House of Representatives and the Senate may be even more difficult than it was for the stimulus package.
Although Republicans on Capitol Hill have often expressed an interest in approving more infrastructure spending, they have balked at tax increases and other domestic spending initiatives.
Mitch McConnell, the Republican Senate minority leader, ripped into the White House’s nascent investment plans on Monday, calling them a “Trojan horse for massive tax hikes and other job-killing, leftwing policies”.
McConnell then referred back to the economic policies of former president Donald Trump, saying they had yielded better results in the pre-pandemic era.
结构公式: [目标动作] with [可量化的约束条件] may be even more difficult than it was for [前例]
FT写法:
Clinching congressional approval for a massive new round of spending with razor-thin majorities for Democrats in both the House of Representatives and the Senate may be even more difficult than it was for the stimulus package.
学生最容易犯的错是把评估段写成情绪段(“This plan will face many problems and it is very worrying.”),读者既不知道问题是什么,也不知道有多严重。
We want to start a reading club in our class, but it will be very difficult. There will be many problems.
Winning half the class over to a weekly reading club, with only forty minutes of free time on Friday afternoons, may be even more difficult than persuading everyone to stay for extra maths.
结构公式: Although [反方] have often expressed an interest in [共同立场], they have balked at [真正的分歧点]
FT写法:
Although Republicans on Capitol Hill have often expressed an interest in approving more infrastructure spending, they have balked at tax increases and other domestic spending initiatives.
Some people do not want the reading club because they do not like reading at all.
Although many classmates have asked for more reading time, they have balked at giving up the Friday football match that the reading club would replace.
结构公式: [姓名], [身份], ripped into [目标] on [时间], calling them "[定性引语]" + [姓名] then referred back to [依据], saying they had yielded better results
FT写法:
Mitch McConnell, the Republican Senate minority leader, ripped into the White House’s nascent investment plans on Monday, calling them a “Trojan horse for massive tax hikes and other job-killing, leftwing policies”.
McConnell then referred back to the economic policies of former president Donald Trump, saying they had yielded better results in the pre-pandemic era.
Some students think homework is useless and they do not want to do it. They think it is too much.
Chen Yuhan, the class monitor, ripped into the plan last Monday, calling it “a way to make everyone tired without making anyone better”. She then referred back to last term, saying that the week with the fewest assignments was also the week the class scored highest.
学生被反驳时会写“I totally disagree with them, because they are wrong.”——这是情绪,不是回应。
I completely disagree with them. Their idea is totally wrong and they just do not want to work hard.
“Our aim is to make sure every student reads something worth arguing about,” said Liu Xin, the club’s organiser. “The schedule is still being discussed, so any conclusion about the cost is premature.”
They are wrong”?
Some people think students should not use smartphones at school. But I think smartphones are useful for learning. Many students agree with me.
