读《金融时报》学英文写作：句型模仿——开头引入的3个高级句型
很多同学写作文，开头第一句永远是 “Nowadays, with the development of society, more and more people…”。这句话本身没错，但阅卷老师一天看两百篇，谁先跳出模板，谁先拿到分数。
今天我们从《金融时报》(FT) 一篇关于加州实施居家令的报道中，拆解 3 个「开头引入」句型。它们不是生僻词，而是结构公式——学会之后，任何”政策、规定、现象”类话题的开头都能套用。
FT原文（示范素材）
Most Californians were under orders to stay at home from Sunday night, as US officials grappled with a holiday season surge in coronavirus cases that placed new pressures on the country’s healthcare system.
The new restrictions followed orders announced by California governor Gavin Newsom that would limit travel and commerce if capacity at intensive care units fell below 15 per cent in five regions of the state.
As of Saturday, the US had recorded 14,255,535 total cases of the virus, according to US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention data.
Coronavirus cases have climbed across the US during the holiday season, prompting official pleas for Americans to stay at home until vaccines become available.
句型一：被动命令式开头（比 “people were asked to” 有力十倍）
结构公式：
Most X were under orders to do Y, as Z grappled with W that placed new pressures on V.
这个句子的高明之处在于三点：用 under orders to 表示”被命令/被规定”，比 were asked to 更有权威感；用 as 从句交代背景；再用 that placed new pressures on 补充后果，一句话完成”规定+背景+影响”三层信息。
❌ 学生初版
The government asked people to stay at home because the virus was serious.
✅ 升级版
Most residents were under orders to stay at home from Sunday night, as officials grappled with a surge in cases that placed new pressures on the healthcare system.
💡 效果
were under orders to 制造了政策力度感；as + grappled with 让背景自然带出；that placed new pressures on 用定语从句把影响挂到主句上，整句不再是一句话只说一件事。
考场例句：
Most citizens were under orders to stop using single-use plastics from next month, as the city grappled with a waste crisis that placed new pressures on the environment.
句型二：政策因果链（“新规紧随旧规”怎么写）
结构公式：
The new restrictions followed orders announced by X that would do Y if Z fell below N per cent.
用 followed 一个动词交代”新政策紧跟旧政策”的时间顺序，再用 that would ... if ... 给出政策的触发条件。适合写”规定、禁令、措施”类话题。
❌ 学生初版
The government made some new rules. The rules were about limiting travel.
✅ 升级版
The new restrictions followed orders announced by the mayor that would limit travel and close schools if infection rates rose above a certain level.
💡 效果
followed orders 把两层政策关系压缩成一个动词；that would ... if ... 让政策有了”条件感”，读起来像真正的官方文件，而不是学生的简单陈述。
考场例句：
The new regulations followed guidelines announced by the health authority that would suspend outdoor activities if air quality fell below a safe threshold.
句型三：数据状态引入（用数据开场，镇住阅卷老师）
结构公式：
As of [date], X had recorded N total cases / a total of N, according to [source] data.
数据型开头是雅思大作文和高考议论文的加分利器。关键是 As of（截至）和 according to ... data（根据……数据）这两个”严谨标记”，让数字不再是孤立的，而是有来源、有时间边界的。

Many people have the disease. The number is very big.
✅ 升级版
As of Saturday, the city had recorded 14,000 total cases of the virus, according to the local health commission’s data.
💡 效果
As of + 日期 给数据定时间边界；according to ... data 给数据找来源。同样一个数字，加了这两个标记，就从”学生口头陈述”变成”专业论证”。
考场例句：
As of last month, the company had recorded 2.3 million monthly active users, according to its annual report data.
写作建议
- 开头只写一个功能：命令/规定类开头就专心交代”规定+背景”，不要又谈历史又谈个人感受。
- 数字必须带来源：作文里出现数据时，养成加
according to ... data或As of ...的习惯，这是从”6分”到”7分”的分水岭。 - 模仿时先替换名词，再替换结构：先用今天的公式写”学校规定”、“城市禁令”，写顺了再尝试调整从句顺序。
