On the one hand, studying abroad is good”,再写”On the other hand, it has some problems”——两个”hand”一摆,对比就结束了。
Coronavirus will have killed half a million people in the US by the end of next month, Joe Biden predicted on Thursday as he warned that his administration would not be able to dramatically speed up the pace of vaccinations.
“We didn’t get into this mess overnight. It’s going to take months for us to turn things around,” Mr Biden added during a briefing at the White House on his first full day as president.
However, that would not represent a significant increase to the current pace of vaccinations: according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, in the past week, an average of 912,497 doses were administered per day.
The president’s bleak assessment of the pandemic marks a sharp departure from his predecessor Donald Trump, who repeatedly predicted that the US was on the cusp of defeating the virus only for it to spiral further out of control.
(Centers for Disease Control and Prevention)的数据,过去一周平均每天接种912,497剂。
However, that would not represent a significant increase to the current pace of vaccinations: according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, in the past week, an average of 912,497 doses were administered per day.
The plan is not enough. The government needs to work harder.
However, the plan would not represent a significant increase to the current pace: according to the latest data, only 912,497 doses were administered per day.
结构公式: [主语]'s [评价] marks a sharp departure from [前任/旧事物], who [补充说明]
FT写法:
The president’s bleak assessment of the pandemic marks a sharp departure from his predecessor Donald Trump, who repeatedly predicted that the US was on the cusp of defeating the virus only for it to spiral further out of control.
The new president is different from the old one. He is more honest.
The new leader’s sober assessment marks a sharp departure from his predecessor, who repeatedly predicted victory only for the situation to spiral further out of control.
marks a sharp departure from 一句话把两方都装进去,who 从句再补一刀,段落短而有力。
“We didn’t get into this mess overnight. It’s going to take months for us to turn things around.”
He said the problem is very difficult. I think he is very honest.
“We didn’t get into this mess overnight. It’s going to take months for us to turn things around,” Mr Biden said on his first full day as president.
(I think he is honest),用引语 + 时间背景(first full day)制造克制而有力的对照。
912,497 doses per day和half a million deaths才算。 升级版里没有 better/worse,全是数字和行为。
用 However + 数据 或 marks a sharp departure from + who从句,把下面这个”空对比”升级成有反差的对比段:
The new policy is very different from the old one. The old one was bad, and the new one is good.
