读《金融时报》学英文写作：段落结构——递进段落：让事态越写越紧
写”一件事”是学生作文里最常见的任务：一件校园活动、一次社会新闻、一个历史事件。最常见的写法是：First, something happened. Then, something else happened. Finally, it ended.——三句话一个重量，像记流水账，读者读完不知道这件事到底有多严重、发展到哪一步了。
好的事件段落是递进的：警告、规模、归因、回应，一层比一层重，读者跟着文字越读越紧。
今天我们拆解《金融时报》2020年12月一篇报道——美国遭受严重网络攻击（SolarWinds事件，全文754词）。这篇报道是教科书级的递进样本：警告定调 → 官方首次确认 → 规模曝光 → 追责 → 政治回应。
FT原文（示范素材）
US cyber officials warned that a major cyber attack unearthed this week was still continuing and posed a “grave risk” to the government, critical infrastructure and private sector.
The update on the SolarWinds hack is the first time the US has confirmed the scale of the attack and the difficulty involved in finding and removing perpetrators from secure networks.
Thousands of businesses and government agencies may have been exposed after downloading compromised software from SolarWinds, a Texas-based IT group.
FireEye, SolarWinds and some US officials have blamed “nation-state” hackers for the breach … Cyber security experts, plus several politicians, have singled out Russian intelligence as the culprit, although Russia has strongly denied any involvement.
President-elect Joe Biden said in a statement that he had been briefed by US government officials on the attack and vowed to impose “substantial cost” on adversaries who penetrate US computer systems.

技法一：警告句开场定调——still + grave 双信号
结构公式： [权威主体] warned that [事件] was still [持续状态] and posed a "grave risk" to [受影响对象]
FT第一句：
US cyber officials warned that a major cyber attack unearthed this week was still continuing and posed a “grave risk” to the government, critical infrastructure and private sector.
一句话放了两个信号：still continuing（事态还在进行，不是旧闻）+ "grave risk"（危险定性）。读者第一眼就知道：这不是”发生过的坏事”，而是”正在升级的危机”。

There is a very serious cyber attack in America. It is very bad.
✅ 升级版

💡 效果
warned that ... was still ... and posed a "grave risk" to ... 一个句子完成三件事：谁说的（官方）、什么状态（仍在继续）、多严重（grave risk）。学生版的 “It is very bad” 没有主语身份、没有状态、没有对象，是递进段最忌讳的”平地一声雷”。
技法二：“首次”推进标记——first time 让事态升一级
结构公式： [事件] is the first time [主体] has [动作] ...
FT第二句：
The update on the SolarWinds hack is the first time the US has confirmed the scale of the attack and the difficulty involved in finding and removing perpetrators from secure networks.
first time 是递进段落的”进度条”：它告诉读者事态到了新阶段——之前是传闻，现在是官方首次确认。递进段里每一次升级，最好都有一个类似的时间/阶段标记：for the first time、for the first time since、the first time in [时间]。

This is a big attack. America now knows how big it is.
✅ 升级版
The update on the hack is the first time the US has confirmed the scale of the attack and the difficulty involved in removing the perpetrators from secure networks.
💡 效果
is the first time ... has confirmed ... 把”新进展”钉在句子里。读者读到这里会自动意识到：事态比上一段又重了一级。这是递进段和流水账的根本区别——流水账只有时间顺序，递进段有时间顺序加严重程度。
技法三：规模量化放大——用数字把严重性砸实
结构公式： [数量词] of [受影响对象] may have been [受影响方式] after [事件原因]
FT第三句：
Thousands of businesses and government agencies may have been exposed after downloading compromised software from SolarWinds, a Texas-based IT group.
Thousands of 给出数量级，may have been 保持严谨（“可能”而非”确定”），after downloading ... 交代来源。递进段里，数字是让读者”感到”严重性的最快方式——抽象的危险加上规模，才变成具体的紧张。

✅ 升级版
Thousands of businesses and government agencies may have been exposed after downloading compromised software from a Texas-based IT group.
💡 效果
学生版 Many companies 是”模糊的很多”；FT版 Thousands of businesses and government agencies 是”可感知的数量级 + 具体对象”。递进段的每一层都要比上一层给出更多可核实的信息：状态 → 规模 → 来源。
技法四：追责+回应双层收束——blame 之后必有回应
结构公式： [主体] have blamed/singled out [对象] for [事件], although [对象] has denied [关联] + [领导者] vowed to [反制措施]
FT的归因层和回应层：
Cyber security experts, plus several politicians, have singled out Russian intelligence as the culprit, although Russia has strongly denied any involvement.
President-elect Joe Biden … vowed to impose “substantial cost” on adversaries who penetrate US computer systems.
注意这两句的分工：先 singled out ... as the culprit, although ... denied（归因 + 对方否认，报道保持平衡），再 vowed to impose "substantial cost"（官方反制）。递进段的最顶层通常不是事实本身，而是回应——从警告（事实层）到规模（事实层）到归因（判断层）再到反制（行动层），事态推到顶点。

💡 效果
although ... denied 让归因不偏颇——学生在议论文里写”某人该负责”时，最缺的就是这句”对方怎么说”。而 vowed to ... 把文章从”发生了什么”推进到”接下来会怎样”，递进段以行动收束，读者得到的是方向，不是句号。
写作建议：递进段的三层检查
写完事件段落后，按这三层自查：
- 每一段比上一段”重”在哪？ 警告 → 规模 → 归因 → 回应，每一层要么信息更多、要么离读者更近。如果两层之间重量差不多，就是流水账。
- 有没有推进标记？
still continuing/the first time/Thousands of/vowed to都是升级的”台阶”。没有台阶的段落，读者感觉不到进展。 - 最高层是什么？ 叙事要登顶——通常以”回应/反制/展望”收束，而不是停在事实陈述。问自己：读完之后，读者知道这件事”接下来会怎样”吗？

把下面这段”平铺流水账”升级成递进段落（提示：警告句开场 → first time 推进 → 规模量化 → 回应收束）：
There was a big fire in the factory. The fire was very serious. Many workers were hurt. The government said it will do something.
