比如写议论文要批驳对方观点,很多学生写 “Some people criticize this idea.”

North Korea has blasted South Korea’s foreign minister over recent remarks that cast doubt over Pyongyang’s claim of no coronavirus infections in the isolated country.

Kim Yo Jong, the sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, warned on Wednesday that Kang Kyung-wha would “pay dearly” for her remarks and that already strained inter-Korean relations could get worse…

North Korea has said it has no confirmed cases of Covid-19 as the country in January severed most land, sea and air routes connecting it with China and Russia.

1. blast —

North Korea has blasted South Korea’s foreign minister…”

Many people criticize the government’s policy.

Environmental groups blasted the government’s policy as a threat to the ocean.

The opposition leader blasted the proposal as “irresponsible and short-sighted”.

2. cast doubt over — 使……

原文出处: “recent remarks that cast doubt over Pyongyang’s claim of no coronavirus infections”

cast doubt over/on

This makes people doubt whether the plan will work.

The lack of data cast doubt over the government’s claim that the plan was working.

His conflicting statements cast doubt on his credibility as a witness.

3. pay dearly —

Kang Kyung-wha would ‘pay dearly’ for her remarks”

If we keep polluting, we will face bad results.

If we continue to ignore climate warnings, future generations will pay dearly for our short-sightedness.

Companies that deceive consumers eventually pay dearly for their dishonesty.

4. sever —

原文出处: “the country in January severed most land, sea and air routes connecting it with China and Russia”

The two countries cut off their business relationship.

The scandal severed the partnership that had lasted for two decades.

The dispute severed diplomatic ties between the two neighbours.

5. strained —

原文出处: “already strained inter-Korean relations could get worse”

Their relationship is very bad now.

The strained relationship between the two sides showed no signs of improvement.

The dispute left the company’s relationship with its suppliers strained.
