批改学生写”违规—被处罚—上诉—有结果”这类段落时，最常见的一段是这样：He broke the rule. The school punished him. At first the punishment was one year, but later it became half a year. He said he did not do it. But the school found he changed the paper, and other students said it was true.——句子没错，但动词只有 punish 和 say 两个，整段像流水账。

Russia’s four-year ban from global sporting events has been halved, in a move that will affect athletes competing at the next two Olympic Games, but could end the long-running fallout from its state-sponsored doping scandal.
The Court of Arbitration for Sport, a Swiss body considered the ultimate arbiter for global sports disputes, ruled on Thursday that wide-ranging sanctions applied on Russia by the World Anti-Doping Agency should be upheld. However, CAS also decided to reduce the original four-year ban to two years.
This decision means that, although some Russian athletes will be allowed to compete at big sporting events, they are able to do so only as “neutral athletes”, while the country’s flag and anthem are barred.
Wada’s latest sanction is based on allegations that Russian authorities tampered with a database from its Moscow testing laboratory before handing it over to anti-doping investigators last year.
Many international bodies, including the International Olympic Committee, the games organisers, have independently corroborated Mr Rodchenkov’s evidence.
In its ruling on Thursday, CAS said: “This panel has imposed consequences to reflect the nature and seriousness of the non-compliance [to doping controls] and to ensure that the integrity of sport against the scourge of doping is maintained. …”

为什么好： 学生写”法院支持了这个处罚”，只会 agreed with the punishment 或 said the punishment was right——两个都是”表态”，不是”裁决”。uphold 是法律与规则语境里的核心动词，“经审查后依然认定有效”：uphold a ruling（维持裁决）、uphold a ban（维持禁令）、uphold sanctions（维持制裁）。它的反义动作才是 overturn（推翻）。

2️⃣ halve — 把……减半
原文出处： “Russia’s four-year ban from global sporting events has been halved…”
为什么好： 学生写”从四年变成两年”，标准写法是 the ban was reduced from four years to two years——把数字重复念一遍。halve 一个动词就说完了”减半”：halve the ban（把禁赛期减半）、halve the penalty（把处罚减半）、the deficit has halved（赤字减半）。它的同位词还有 double（翻倍）、triple（增至三倍）。

3️⃣ impose … on — 对……施加（处罚、限制、规定）
原文出处： “This panel has imposed consequences to reflect the nature and seriousness of the non-compliance…” / “Limited curbs were previously imposed on Russian athletes at the past two Olympics.”
为什么好： 学生表达”惩罚他们”永远是 punish them。但正式写作要说出”施加的是什么”：impose sanctions on sb（对某方施加制裁）、impose a ban on sth（对某事施加禁令）、impose limits on sth（施加限制）。被动式 be imposed on 是政策类文章的高频结构——主语是”处罚”，执行者反而退到句尾。

💡 效果 impose … on 把笼统的”惩罚”变成”施加某项具体制裁”，这正是议论文需要的精确度：谁施加、施加给谁、施加的是什么，一句话交代清楚。

4️⃣ tamper with — 篡改、擅自改动（数据、证据、文件）
原文出处： ”…Russian authorities tampered with a database from its Moscow testing laboratory before handing it over to anti-doping investigators last year.”
为什么好： 学生写”偷偷改了数据”只会 changed the data secretly——副词硬撑。tamper with 精准表达”未经授权地动手脚”，且自带贬义：tamper with evidence（篡改证据）、tamper with the results（篡改结果）、tamper with a database（篡改数据库）。

✅ 升级版 Investigators found that the authorities had tampered with the testing database.

5️⃣ corroborate — 印证、证实（某人的说法/证据）
原文出处： “Many international bodies, including the International Olympic Committee, the games organisers, have independently corroborated Mr Rodchenkov’s evidence.”
为什么好： 学生写”很多人都说这是真的”只会 many people said it was true。corroborate 的含义更精确——用独立的证据去印证某人的说法：corroborate a claim（印证某说法）、corroborate evidence（印证证词）、independently corroborated（经独立印证）。它强调的是”证据之间对得上”，不是”人多”。
❌ 学生初版 Many people said his words were true.
✅ 升级版 Several international bodies independently corroborated his evidence.
💡 效果 写”证据链”的段落，corroborate 几乎是不可替代的动词。它让论证从”大家都说”升级到”多方独立印证”，这是雅思 Task 2 和高中议论文都吃分的地方。

写”违规—处理—争议—结论”时，不要停留在 punish + say 的空转上。按裁决、期限、处罚、证据四个动作层级组织词汇，段落立刻有专业感：
