很多同学写英语作文，从头到尾只用 but 和 because：
“Some people think this is true, but others disagree. Because the situation is different, we should consider both sides.”
这个句式没错，但写三篇作文都用同一套连接词，考官会审美疲劳。逻辑衔接词是雅思/高考写作中拉开分数的关键——它不仅让你”连得上”，还能让论证层次分明、转折有力、让步从容。
今天我们从一篇FT评论文章——《尼日利亚总统：非洲反恐不能只靠美国的军事援助》——学习5个高级逻辑连接表达。这篇文章由尼日利亚总统本人撰写，结构清晰、转折丰富，是学习论证衔接的绝佳范文。

Though some believe the war on terror winds down with the US departure from Afghanistan, the threat it was supposed to address burns fiercely on my continent. Africa is the new frontline of global militancy. Yet few expect the outlay expended here to be as great as in Afghanistan.
Despite rising attacks across Africa in the past decade, international assistance has not followed in step.
It is true that some of our western allies are bruised by their Middle Eastern and Afghan experiences. Others face domestic pressures after the pandemic. Africa was not then, and even less now, their priority. But the threat cannot be ignored.
If Afghanistan has taught us a lesson, it is that although sheer force can blunt terror, its removal can cause the threat to return.
However, more can be done to help with technical assistance, advanced weaponry, intelligence and ordinance.
But what Africa needs most from the US is a comprehensive partnership to close the disparity between our economic and demographic growth. Despite having six of the world’s top 10 fastest-growing economies, my continent’s gross domestic product gains are insufficient to provide for burgeoning populations.

2. Yet —— 轻量级但有力的转折
原文：

为什么好：
Yet 比 But 更书面、更正式，常用于学术写作。放在句首，意味着”前面说了那么多，但这里要逆转了”。
❌ 学生初版 Africa faces many terror attacks. But the world does not spend much money there.
✅ 升级版 Africa is the new frontline of global militancy. Yet international investment in the region remains far below the levels seen in Afghanistan.
💡 效果
Yet 让转折更干净，适合在段首或句中突然翻转读者的预期。

3. Despite + 名词短语 —— 简洁的让步
原文：
Despite rising attacks across Africa in the past decade, international assistance has not followed in step.
为什么好：
Despite 后接名词短语（不是完整句子），比 Although + 从句更简洁。一个词就完成了”承认存在困难”的工作，让句子紧凑有力。
❌ 学生初版 Although attacks across Africa have increased in the past ten years, international assistance has not followed.
✅ 升级版 Despite rising attacks across Africa in the past decade, international assistance has not followed in step.
💡 效果
Despite rising attacks（5个词）比 Although attacks...have increased（8个词）更精炼。而且 in step 这个搭配也值得学——“同步跟上”。

Despite + [名词/动名词短语], [主句].
4. It is true that… But… —— “先承认，再反驳”
原文：
It is true that some of our western allies are bruised by their Middle Eastern and Afghan experiences. But the threat cannot be ignored.
为什么好： 这是一个完整的让步论证结构：先承认对方立场的合理性（“的确，西方盟友受伤了”），再亮出自己的核心论点（“但威胁不能被忽视”）。这种”先给一尺，再要一丈”的结构，在雅思大作文和高考议论文中非常实用。
❌ 学生初版 Western countries have problems. Africa should get more help.
✅ 升级版 It is true that western allies are burdened by their own challenges. But the threat of terrorism in Africa cannot be ignored.
💡 效果
It is true that... But... 构建了一个完整的论证回合，让文章有”对话感”，而不是单向陈述。

5. If…, it is that although…, … —— 多层逻辑嵌套

为什么好：
这是整篇文章最精彩的句子——三层逻辑嵌套：条件 + 让步 + 转折。If...it is that... 是”如果……那么结论是……”的书面结构；although 在内层再做一次让步。一句话里包含完整的因果关系链条。

写作建议
逻辑衔接词不是越多越好——用得精准比用得密集更重要。建议这样做：
- 每次只学2-3个新连接词，在下一篇作文中有意识地使用
- 注意搭配：
Though+ 从句，Despite+ 名词，不要搞混 - 段落中的逻辑链条：先用
