为什么学句型比背单词更重要

很多学生以为作文高分=用大词。但阅卷老师看到的是:每个词都认识你,但你不会用它们组成好看的句子。

真正的分水岭在句型层面。今天我们从一篇FT关于美国空袭叙伊边境民兵组织的报道中,提取4个可以直接移植到考场作文的高级句型。

FT原文

The White House on Monday defended air strikes launched over the weekend on the facilities of two Iran-backed militia groups on the border between Syria and Iraq, the second such attack by the Biden administration in four months.

Jen Psaki, White House press secretary, said President Joe Biden “feels confident that the strikes that he announced yesterday were necessary, appropriate and deliberate actions designed to limit the risk of escalation”.

The attacks risk stoking tensions in the region just over a week after Ebrahim Raisi, a hardliner, won Iran’s presidential election.

Iraq’s military also condemned the US attack, calling it “a blatant and unacceptable violation of Iraqi sovereignty”, and adding that the country “renews its refusal to be an arena for score-settling”.

句型一:三重形容词 + 目的状语

原文

「…the strikes… were necessary, appropriate and deliberate actions designed to limit the risk of escalation.」

为什么好

中文思维写作文爱堆形容词,但往往只是简单罗列(important, necessary)。FT这里用了三重平行结构(necessary, appropriate and deliberate),再接一个目的状语(designed to…),形成一个完整的「评价+目的」句式。这比只说”It was necessary”高级好几个档次。

结构公式

[Subject] was/were [adj]₁, [adj]₂ and [adj]₃ [noun] designed to [verb phrase]

考场用法

❌ 学生初版 The government took some actions to solve the problem.

✅ 升级版 The measures were timely, targeted and affordable actions designed to address the root cause of the crisis.

💡 效果 三重形容词+目的状语的组合让句子有层次感,不再是干巴巴的陈述。阅卷老师在雅思、高考作文中对这种结构会眼前一亮。

跨话题模板

  • 环保话题: The new policy is a strict, comprehensive and forward-looking measure designed to reduce carbon emissions by 30%.
  • 科技话题: The update was a necessary, innovative and user-friendly improvement designed to protect personal data.
  • 教育话题: This program is a practical, accessible and well-researched initiative designed to help rural students catch up.

句型二:「risks + 动名词」后果预判

原文

「The attacks risk stoking tensions in the region just over a week after…」

为什么好

学生写「可能导致」只会用 may lead to 或 could cause。FT的 risk stoking(risk + 动名词)更精准——它传达的是「某行为可能会引发不好的后果」,带有明确的负面预判色彩。stoke 这个词原意是「添柴加火」,比喻「激起/加剧」。整个句型非常紧凑,比 may lead to 有力得多。

结构公式

[Subject] risks [verb+ing] [negative consequence] [time marker] [triggering event]

考场用法

❌ 学生初版 This may cause more pollution in the city.

✅ 升级版 The rapid expansion of factories risks worsening the city’s air quality just months after authorities pledged to clean it up.

💡 效果 risk + 动名词比 may lead to 更具体、更正式,而且带有「警告」的语气,适合议论文中的因果分析段落。

跨话题模板

  • 科技话题: The overuse of AI risks eroding critical thinking skills in students.
  • 环境话题: Delaying action risks accelerating the loss of biodiversity in coastal areas.
  • 社会话题: Cutting education funding risks widening the gap between rich and poor regions.

句型三:「a [adj] and [adj] violation of」谴责句式

原文

「…calling it “a blatant and unacceptable violation of Iraqi sovereignty”」

为什么好

学生在表达批评或谴责时常见的问题是:只会用 It is wrong 或 It is bad。FT这个句式提供了标准的「双重形容词 + violation of + 抽象名词」结构,是英语议论文中表达强烈立场的母语级表达。blatant(明目张胆的)+ unacceptable(不可接受的)这两个词的搭配本身就在传递立场。

结构公式

[Subject] condemned/called [object] “a [adj]₁ and [adj]₂ violation of [principle]”

考场用法

❌ 学生初版 It is bad that some companies damage the environment.

✅ 升级版 Environmental groups condemned the factory’s waste disposal, calling it “a reckless and inexcusable violation of environmental standards”.

💡 效果 用 condemned + calling it “a…violation of…” 的嵌套结构,不仅有立场表达,还有引用式的具体指控,写作层次立刻丰富起来。

跨话题模板

  • 教育话题: Teachers condemned the exam leak, calling it “a serious and unfair violation of academic integrity”.
  • 科技话题: Privacy advocates called the data breach “a massive and unforgivable violation of user trust”.
  • 社会话题: Human rights groups condemned the policy, calling it “a blatant and systematic violation of civil liberties”.

句型四:「renew its refusal to…」持续立场表达

原文

「…the country ‘renews its refusal to be an arena for score-settling’」

为什么好

学生想表达「拒绝」只会用 refuse to 或 reject。renew its refusal to 多了一层「重申/持续拒绝」的意味——暗示之前已经拒绝过,现在再次强调。这种「动态的坚持」正是高级英语写作追求的效果。

结构公式

[Subject] renews/reaffirms its [noun] to [verb phrase]

考场用法

❌ 学生初版 The school refuses to give up this policy.

✅ 升级版 The university renews its commitment to maintaining academic freedom despite growing political pressure.

💡 效果 renews its commitment/refusal to 比单用 refuse/commit 更正式,适合议论文中的立场重申段落。

跨话题模板

  • 环保话题: The government renews its commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.
  • 科技话题: The company renews its refusal to compromise on user privacy standards.
  • 教育话题: The school renews its pledge to provide equal learning opportunities for all students.
